A recently founded ghost hunting group named Ghostly Happenings was started in June of this year. They have four active members, and one junior member. Previous investigations include two investigations to their local historic cemeteries. Debbie Martin, the founder of the group has captured photos of spirits, EVP’s, and video. Debbie currently shares her house in Cross Plains, Indiana with the spirit of a former owner and has told TRAPPRS that she enjoys his presence. Debbie’s team uses many different methods of determining what kind of activity goes on at a haunting. She uses equipment such as: pendulums, dowsing rods, digital and disposable cameras (she says she has had great results with both), video, and audio (EVP), and until she buys an EMF meter, a compass. They document everything from the investigation, from feelings to sounds. TRAPPRS fully endorses Ghostly Happenings. —Info provided by Debbie Martin |

This current seemingly innocent area hasn’t always been so, it has a dark past that begins in England, Under the reign of Queen Elizabeth I. At this time England had not yet taken part in the exploration of the so-called “New World”, so when in 1578 Sir Humphrey Gilbert wrote the Queen requesting permission to establish an English Colony on the North American Mainland, he was granted permission. He later perished at sea in 1583, and Queen Elizabeth gave his half-brother, a patent for discovering new lands in the New World and to claim this land for England. The two expedition ships left England in April of 1584 and landed in present-day North Carolina three months later.
